Narrative
Donald succeeded to the title of 8th Earl of Mar before September 1305. He was reared at King Edward I's court in England. He held the office of Keeper of Newark Castle in January 1322. In 1327 he raised a force in Scotland and invaded England seeking to restore King Edward II. He held the office of Regent of Scotland in 1332. He fought and died in the Battle of Dupplin Muir on 12 August 1332.
