Bauduoin succeeded to the title of Comte de Hainaut in 1194. He succeeded to the title of Comte de Flandre in 1194. He was created Emperor Baldwin I of Constantinople in 1204. He was deposed as Emperor of Constantinople in 1205, and died while imprisoned in Bulgaria.
