Narrative
Patrick held the office of Gentleman of the Bedchamber to King James VI in 1584. He held the office of Master of the Wardrobe to King James VI in 1584. He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] in 1585. In 1587 he was banished from the Scottish court, after having possibly schemed for the execution of Mary Queen of Scots while Ambassador to England. In 1589 he returned to the Scottish court and the King's favor. He succeeded to the title of 6th Lord Gray before 10 March 1608.
