From the notes of William A. Houser of Cincinnati, OH. Genealogy of the Houser Tribe (Written Feb 1936):
"William A. Houser is great-grandson of Samuel, the grandson of Abraham & son of George Mason. This is what his booklet had to say about the descendants of Samuel Houser - Samuel Houser, 6th son, b.1781, died abt.1839. Married Sarah Piper, lived in Harrison Co, IN, was farmer, trader, and the first Peace officer in IN, when Corydon was the State Capitol, was in saw-mill business for awhile with older brother, David, and brother-in-law George Mason. Later engaged in flat-boating produce, corn, apples, flour, port, meal, etc down the Ohio & Mississippi Rivers to New Orleans, making his way back home on foot & horseback. On last trip was killed some place along the route, supposedly in the Indian Nation, for his money, this being in 1839. His wife Sarah, died abt. 1860, & is buried in the hill or knob in Harrison Co, overlooking the Ohio River, opposite the end of Greenwood Rd. in Kentucky. Children : 1)Jacob b.1810 & died age 23yrs , never married 2) George Mason b.1812 & d.1901, married Sallie Toops. Lived all his life in Harrison Co. 3)Abraham, b. 1814 & d. Aug 11, 1890, married 1st to Lucinda Younger & 2nd to Amanda Deering. Lived in Jefferson Co, KY at the end of Greenwood Rd, 14 milies below Louisville, on the banks of Ohio River. Was a farmer, ran a woodyard for steamboats before coal was to be had. 4)A daughter, Jane was born to Samuel & Sarah, we have no record of her descendants, except she m. a John Sparks."
