Narrative
John was created 1st Earl of Atholl [Scotland] circa 1457. In 1460 he was granted the Castle and Lordship of Balvenie. He was created 1st Lord of Balveny [Scotland] in 1460. In 1475 he defeated and captured the last Lord of the Isles. He held the office of Scottish Ambassador to England in 1484.
