Narrative
Between 1296 and 30 July 1297 Sir David was imprisoned by the English and released on condition he serve in King Edward I's foreign wars. He exchanged with King Robert I of Scotland the lands of Cardross, Dunbartonshire for the lands of Old Montrose. In 1322 he was a guarantor of the Anglo-Scots treaty.
